We are pleased to announce that Ms. Latonia Woods will be the K-5 Challenge Prep Summer Day Camp Director. The Camp will be held from July 5th through August 4th at Challenge Preparatory Charter School.
For over 15 years, Ms. Woods has been working in education through public, private and charter schools. She served as Head Counselor for our Day Camp in the summers of 2015 and 2016. Since 2012, she has served as a Challenge Prep Teacher Assistant for third and fifth grade. Woods holds a Masters in Education from the University of Phoenix.
The K-5 Challenge Prep Day Camp, now in its sixth year of operation is known for fantastic programming that features weekly field trips for the participants. The Camp draws upon the faculty and staff from Challenge Prep as well as the Far Rockaway community to serve as the Camp Team. The weekly educational adventures are shaped by fun and friends, featuring technology, cooking, weekly trips, art, tennis, soccer and more.
Ms. Woods expressed what a privilege it is to be directing the camp this year by saying, “This summer our campers are in for an exciting experience where they can create friendships, build teamwork and conquer fears. I want our campers to remember their enjoyable time they had while dancing, cooking, showing off their creative talents, and going on cool trips. I hope our campers take away the ability to gain new skills and tap into an interest that he or she wants to carry on after camp is over.”
Camp Registration is available on-site in the CPCS lobby May 24th from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. and May 26th from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. Beginning May 31st, a Camp Representative will be available 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. in the CPCS lobby Monday through Friday.
