Yesterday 40 fourth and fifth grade scholars represented Challenge Preparatory Charter School at the NYC Department of Education (DOE) Back to School event hosted by the Office of School Design and Charter Partnerships. Following a recent DOE visit to our 710 Hartman location, an invitation was extended to CEO/Founder Rev. Dr. Les Mullings to include our scholars at the celebration.
Held at the historic Tweed building, the program featured Chancellor Carmen Farina, Melissa Harris, Executive Director of School Design and Charter Partnerships and Verone Kennedy, Executive Director of Charter Authorization and Partnerships. Led by Music Johnson, Challenge Prep scholars performed after the Chancellor addressed the attendees.
K-5 Principal Nicole Griffin noted that it was an awesome event for the students, and scholars shared their Cheetah pride by ending the performance with the Challenge Prep school song.
"What a tremendous honor for Challenge Prep to be invited to this event by Chancellor Farina and Ms. Harris. We are a standout charter school in the educational system of New York City, and I'm so proud our scholars had the opportunity to share their talents and represent our school," stated Dr. Mullings.
